We invite you to complete the scholarship application to be a St. Mark’s Campus Ministry Peer Leader. Upon completion of the application, Cassie Yeager will reach out to confirm your application, gather two references, and set-up an interview time.
Scholarship applications will be accepted beginning June 15, 2021 and will end on July 25, 2021.
Peer Minister Description:
- Peer ministers will be asked to lead following in Jesus’ footsteps. Peer ministers will strive to be Good Samaritans. They will embody characteristics of caring, welcoming, and affirming every neighbor. A peer minister believes they are called to a vocation of loving others, as a response to a loving God, through a relationship with Jesus. Peer ministers will be observant, intentional listeners, take action, cross barriers, and seek help.
- Peer ministers are committed to offering and creating a safe and welcoming space to all students, building strong relationships, and aware of campus culture. Peer ministers will be asked to attend worship, small group, fellowship events, and regular mentoring meetings throughout the semester totaling a minimum of 4 hours per week while school is in session. When not in session, peer ministers will be asked to check in with their peers for a total of 1 hour per week.
- Peer ministers will invite and welcome others into small group communities and to campus ministry events.
- Peer ministers must be attending Bowling Green State University or be a current member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and in the 18-22 age range. Some exceptions may be considered.
Recipients of the scholarship will be awarded $1200 for the 2021-2022 school year. The funds will be given in two portions; $600 directly to the BGSU Bursar in the Fall, and $600 directly the the BGSU Bursar in the Spring. Students will be reviewed at the end of the fall semester. This is a one year scholarship; students are invited to apply again the following year. *In the event the peer minister scholarship recipient is not a student at BGSU, we will make appropriate accommodations.*
